Sunset Cakes
A website for a Lagos cake maker that turns a made-to-order enquiry into one complete WhatsApp message.
The problem
A Lagos cake maker who makes every cake to order needed more than a photo gallery. Each cake starts with a conversation about the occasion, size, flavour, finish and date, and those details were being collected piecemeal in messages.
What I built
- A "design your cake" form that takes the occasion, size, flavour, finish and date in about two minutes, then delivers everything as one WhatsApp message, with the customer's inspiration photo if they add one.
- A gallery of the cakes with categories, so customers can browse by type before they enquire.
- A plain "from idea to cake" explanation, an FAQ and an about page that says who makes the cakes, which builds the trust a made-to-order business depends on.
- A fast, mobile-first design with its own look: a warm, editorial style that suits handmade celebration cakes rather than a generic template.
- Delivery and collection details set out clearly: anywhere in Lagos, or collect from Ajah.
Built with
Astro, TypeScript, Preact and Tailwind CSS, with Zod form validation, Sharp image processing and automated tests in Vitest, deployed on Cloudflare Workers. Enquiries hand off to WhatsApp, which is how Lagos customers already prefer to order.
Outcome
A live website that turns "I would like a cake" into a complete, structured enquiry in one WhatsApp message. Customer reviews on the site are the client's own. I will add enquiry numbers here once there is real data to report.
